USA has a little more firepower going forward with players like Pulisic and Balogun, and the energy from a home crowd in a World Cup opener should be a huge boost. Paraguay is a tough, well-organized team that does not give much away defensively, but the U.S. just feels like the more talented side overall heading into this one. Paraguay will probably make things difficult and will not be easy to break down, but the United States has enough quality in the attack to create chances and eventually find a breakthrough. This does not feel like a game that turns into a shootout, but it does feel like one where the U.S. controls more of the play and finds a way to get the job done.
